Today’s average male has sperm production and sperm motility considerably lower than when these were first recorded, the data least subject to systematic error being sperm counts from couples tested for infertility where the infertility was subsequently determined to be due to the female. It has been in decline over the last seventy years. Testosterone levels have also fallen substantially. Changes in obesity and other factors do not explain the decline in testosterone. (more…)

Monday, July 15th, 2013I predict no riots in Seminole County
Sunday, July 14th, 2013The press have been calling on blacks to riot in the event of a Zimmerman acquittal
Assorted black leaders have been calling on blacks to riot in the event of a Zimmerman acquittal.
We have a full Zimmerman acquittal, somewhat to my surprise, since I expected an all female jury to do whatever the judge signals she wants them to do, which in this case was to convict Zimmerman of a lesser charge.
The sheriff of Seminole county, where the incident and the acquittal happened, says rioting will not be tolerated.
Black riots are astroturf. Always have been, always will be. Every black riot happens when the authorities give a wink that rioting will be tolerated.
If a riot happens, and the Sheriff follows through with his promise that rioting will not be tolerated, then I will be proven wrong. Even if the riot was swiftly squelched, indeed especially if it was swiftly squelched, we would know that blacks had rioted on their own initiative, rather than as directed, which would show that black riots are not necessarily astroturf.
If a riot happens and the Sheriff fails to follow through, then we may conclude he said one thing in public and another thing in private to community organizers. Such an outcome would not prove me wrong. However I am pretty sure he is not kidding, for he called on businesses to remain open, which is code for “call up every rentacop”.
The real charge against Zimmerman
Monday, July 1st, 2013Supposedly, the state’s theory is that Zimmerman followed Trayvon, jumped him, beat him up, then shot him.
Of course no one believes this. When the prosecution questions prosecution witnesses, they make no attempt to support their supposed theory. Every prosecution witness bar one, while being questioned by the prosecution, has shot down that purported theory one way or another. It is clear from the prosecution witnesses while being questioned by the prosecution, even Trayvon’s girlfriend, that Trayvon jumped Zimmerman from the shadows and beat him up, motivated in part or whole by racial hatred. Rather, what the prosecution does attempt to argue, by the questions that it puts to its witnesses, is that Zimmerman was not hurt all that much, that he should have just put up with being beaten and mugged, that he should have just sucked it up.
Obviously, were the situation reversed, no one would suggest that a black man should just suck it up. Were the situation reversed, that a dead white assailant was in part or whole motivated by racial hostility would have been reported in headlines the size of tombstones.
The basic issue here, the real, though unspoken, prosecution claim, is that blacks are entitled to attack white people without being resisted by lethal force, even though no one would propose the converse. It is that simple.
The left devour their own
Saturday, June 29th, 2013In the latest re-run of Racefail09, Barry Malzberg and Mike Resnick are being demonized for insufficient leftism – primarily Barry Malzberg, previously a leading leftist of Science Fiction, who, in his younger days, was substantially influential in imposing the then new and rigidly boring political orthodoxy on science fiction and fantasy. Now in their seventies, they failed to quite keep up with the latest orthodoxy, falling two or three years behind the latest feminist line. Or rather they were in their seventies. They are now, like Winston Smith at the end of “1984”, pre-dead. (more…)
Selecting for stupid
Monday, June 24th, 2013Before Google became a huge success, it tried to select for the smartest people, in so far as it was legally possible to do. It then became a huge success.
Today, Google’s chief human resources officer tells us selecting for smart does not work, so Google does not do it any more. (Hat tip, Lion of the Blogosphere)
What do you think is more likely: That selecting for smart does not work, or that it gives politically incorrect results?
This looks like the same phenomenon as elite educational institutions furtively or openly blowing off the LSAT, and contenting themselves with an intake that is low on the LSAT. Google says smarts are not useful, colleges are finding the results of LSAT inconvenient.
Preparing for Civil War Two
Wednesday, June 5th, 2013Many reactionaries compare today’s America to the latter days of the Roman Republic, reflect on the excellence of the early Roman empire, and hope for a military coup that ends the corrupt and decadent American republic, replacing it with disciplined imperium.
The reigns of the five good Roman emperors illustrate that the reign of stationary bandit, an absolute dictator secure in his power, fearing neither votes nor coups nor riot nor military insurrection, is a pretty good system. He has an incentive to shear the sheep, but not flay them, while other forms of government tend to flaying. Observe that taxes on the rich are everywhere far above the Laffer limit, and in many places, such as Greece, taxes on the working poor are far above the Laffer limit.
Unfortunately such a tranquil transition seems improbable, for every officer above company grade in the US army is selected not only for political correctness, but, more importantly, for lack of military competence. The Cathedral fears losing a war with the US military far more than it fears the US military losing a war with some external enemy. A successful coup requires a leader who commands a reasonable level of respect from the junior officers. Being such a potential coup maker absolutely disqualifies officers for promotion above company grade.
Nor could the US military provide order after such a transition, for order requires legitimacy, and such a tranquil transition would leave the new imperator illegitimate. Coercive power is insufficient to enable a government to govern. (more…)
Debate with Vox Day: Evolution by natural selection
Saturday, June 1st, 2013We have been discussing on what the various kinds of reactionary agree. We agree on reality and agree that reality is important. I also agree with Vox Day about Scalzi, who exemplifies the progressive tendency to cut the balls off male progressives. John Scalzi is exhibit A for Heartiste’s position that any man who is a man should reject the entire progressive political movement, including and especially the early nineteenth century emancipation of women, which led to the English 1857 Matrimonial Causes act legally privileging wives above their husbands.
So let us see if we can discuss what we disagree on and remain courteous and continue to respect each other.

Who speaks for reaction
Thursday, May 30th, 2013In the reactivity place, one of the commenters asks:
Who speaks for reaction?
To which the host replies:
In other words, the unifying factor among reactionaries of all diverse kinds is The Dark Enlightenment.
On Formalism
Sunday, May 26th, 2013Radish has classified me as a formalist, presumably on the basis that I think that the government should actually be in charge of the public service and the top universities, and that professors and senior public servants should be fireable for any reason and no reason, and should do as they are told. (more…)
On Sovereignty
Sunday, May 26th, 2013Mencius Moldbug has argued that Sovereignty is conserved – meaning that constitutions are ultimately worthless, there will always be a sovereign, and nothing can stop the sovereign from doing what he likes, government cannot bind itself (more…)
